Our first edition is this Black Widow Cage, designed by Joe Netherworld. It is a glass bowl, the opening sealed with a piece of screen. It is designed to house small spiders, which build irregular webs (cobwebs), namely members of the genus Lactrodectus. The ornate, alien-claw base is made of pewter. The bowl is glass and 8" (20cm) in diameter. The glass sphere may be placed with the opening facing down (as shown), or it can be placed with the opening facing up, allowing for the housing of any number of small invertebrates (even fish!) that do not require strong restraint. The screen after all is just a piece of screen. It will not stop a Scolopedra centipede. If you wish to house something like that in one of our Black Widow Cages, you had better make a strong stopper. Price: $149- (Black Widow not included)
